Guidelines for Users
1. General Policy
1.1 Services are primarily for teaching / learning support on campus.
1.2 Services are available normally during CHTL office hours. (Please see below.)
1.3 Signatories on CHTL Equipment Request forms are accountable for overall user responsibilities.
1.4 Services may be chargeable for late request / return, damage of equipment and non-teaching functions.
1.5 CHTL promises to provide comprehensive support as much as possible. However, due to unforeseen circumstances and technical problems, success in recording is not guaranteed.
2. Confirmation of Equipment Request
2.1 For normal requests, confirmation is given at the time of email or fax reply from CHTL, except for requests needing special arrangements.
2.2 For exceptional requests, the applicant will be contacted on the decision as soon as possible. If the need is urgent and immediate, we reserve our rights to loan such equipments.
3. Check-out & Return of Equipment
3.1 Portable items are to be checked-out and returned by the user(s) at the CHTL office during office hours of CHTL on the day(s) of use, unless otherwise specified.
3.2 All items must be promptly returned at the time agreed. Signatories of requests failing to meet schedule may be charged with a late fee at the Director's discretion.
3.3 Users must treat all items with respect and handle them with care. In case of damage/loss, written or verbal report must be submitted by the signatories/users who are aware of the cause of damage/loss. The signatories or the unit of the signatories are (is) liable for compensation on:
(a) the cost of parts and labour of repairing in case of damages;
(b) the cost of replacement of a compatible item acceptable to CHTL in case of loss; or
(c) the original purchase price of the lost item.
4. Ownership of Recordings
4.1 All users will be required to sign the "Speaker/Presenter Authorization & Release Form" to CHTL, including HKBU teaching staff and external parties. This document stipulates that the users of Panopto@HKBU program agree to assign the intellectual property right of the recordings to HKBU. HKBU Staff members, who invite the external speakers, should be responsible in soliciting the consent from them by signing the form. To acquire the form, please send us an email at email@example.com.
