One-off Funding Scheme for Supporting Presentation/Attendance in the Lilly-Asia Conference 2019


HKBU is honoured to co-host the first ever Lilly-Asia Conference with the International Teaching Learning Cooperative (ITL) and the Hong Kong – America Center (HKAC). The Conference will be held at HKBU from 16 to 18 May 2019.

To promote the scholarship of teaching and learning and to encourage participation, the TDG Panel launches a one-off funding scheme to support around 30 HKBU colleagues and students for presenting in/attending the Lilly-Asia Conference, with details as follows:

  Registration Fee to be Subsidised by the TDG Staff Development Grant Remarks
Colleagues/Students who have their proposals accepted for giving presentations in the Conference; Up to 100% The fee is subsidised based on the number of proposals accepted and the registration fee for only one presenter of each accepted proposal
Colleagues/Students who attend the Conference without giving presentations Up to 50% The registration fee for others who have registered to attend the conference

Only the registration fee for the Lilly-Asia Conference (early bird rate, full access: HK$3,150) will be covered. The TDG Panel will NOT accept more than one application from an individual.




Please complete the application form and provide relevant supporting documents. Applications (electronic copies, with proper endorsement as appropriate) should be submitted to Dr Eva Wong (, Secretary to the TDG Panel, by 4 March 2019.

Application Form

All applications will be gathered and reviewed by the TDG Panel based on their merits. The support can only be granted to individuals who are teaching for/studying in UGC-funded programmes.



Important Notes

During the application stage, colleagues/students must NOT register or pay the registration fee on their own. However, they should submit proposals by 15 January 2019 ( if they want to present in the Conference.
All successful applications will be referred direct to the Conference Secretariat for arranging group registration and payment. The TDG Panel will NOT reimburse individuals who had paid relevant fees in advance.



Reminders for Student Applicants

Research postgraduate students must obtain the approval of his/her supervisor for their applications for this funding. Undergraduate students can also benefit from this funding, but they should be nominated by their home Department.



Application Deadline

4 March 2018. No late applications will be entertained.




Priorities will be given to:

  • individuals with their proposals accepted for presentation in the Conference; and
  • junior academic/teaching colleagues (up to Assistant Professors), as well as postgraduate and undergraduate students who are not employed as student helpers for the conference.




As a condition of receiving this grant, all beneficiaries shall be required to share their experience/presentation in our internal workshop(s), and/or participate in some University-wide exercises.
