Introduction
The transition to the 4-year Degree coupled with the adoption of outcome-based teaching and learning (OBTL) present staff with significant challenges and opportunities for professional development. The Centre for Holistic Teaching and Learning (CHTL) has an important role to work with academic colleagues for the enhancement of student learning. The TALES seminar series is designed to assist both new and experienced academic staff to adapt to the changing nature of the environment in which they work. TALES will help colleagues understand how our students learn, and provide resources, academic support and learning opportunities with OBTL and e-learning. The CHTL team will work with teachers to develop effective pedagogy in a holistic environment to enable our students to take proactive action to better manage their own learning.Intended Learning Outcomes
At the end of TALES, participants will be able to:- Describe the HKBU Graduate Attributes and their importance in the OBTL implementation;
- Develop constructively aligned Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs), Teaching and Learning Activities (TLAs) and Assessment Methods (AMs) for their respective courses;
- Experiment with new and innovative teaching activities through the deployment of e-learning.

Abstract |
For the third triennium running, the University Grants Committee (UGC) provides the ear-marked fund, Teaching Development Grants, targeted at assisting local Universities to further enhance their teaching and learning endeavours and practices. At HKBU, the TDG is used in line with the University’s vision on quality teaching and learning (Vision 2020 Strategic Themes and Action –?http://www.hkbu.edu.hk/vision2020). As such, colleagues are encouraged to put forward innovative ideas in teaching practices and learning enhancement, both within and outside of the classroom, to facilitate better student learning. Putting good initiatives about teaching development into a proposal and then into action is no mean feat. Yet our students are most fortunate, as there is no shortage of innovations and enthusiasm amongst our colleagues in trying out new pedagogies to encourage and engage students in learning. In line with the call for TDG proposals in this new 2012-2015 triennium, we have invited 3 Principal Investigators from among the 20 plus ongoing projects to share their experience in writing “successful” proposals, and then continue to enact their projects. The new Chair of the TDG Panel will also share his views on the continuous enhancement of teaching and learning at HKBU. At the end of this TALES session, participants should be able to:
