The Chairman of the University Grants Committee (UGC), Mr Carlson Tong (third left), presents the 2021 UGC Teaching Award for Teams to the Joint University Mental-Wellness Project Team. The team is led by Dr Sylvia Kwok Lai Yuk-ching, CityU (third right), with Professor Daniel Wong Fu-keung, HKU (second left), Dr To Siu-ming, CUHK (second right), Dr Pan Jiayan, HKBU (first left) and Miss Loretta Leung Mee-kuen, EdUHK (first right) as team members. 

Dr Pan Jiayan, Associate Professor of the Department of Social Work of Hong Kong Baptist University, has received the 2021 UGC Teaching Award for Team as a member of the Joint University Mental-Wellness Project (JUMP) team.

Other members of the inter-university team come from City University of Hong Kong, The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The Education University of Hong Kong.

JUMP project provides ample opportunities, including both formal and informal learning, to develop students’ potential and explore their meaning of life through a positive transformational learning pedagogy in positive education. JUMP has benefited around 7,000 university students, staff, and members of the wider community.

This is the third year in a row that HKBU teachers have won the prestigious UGC Teaching Award, which is a distinct honour presented by the University Grants Committee. Dr Pan’s achievement is an illustration of the University’s commitment to offering quality education to students.
