Ms Vicky Man (2nd left) and other members of the English Across the Curriculum Team, including Dr Julia Chen and Dr Grace Lim of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Ms Christy Chan of City University of Hong Kong, and Dr Elza Tsang of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, receive the University Grants Committee Teaching Award for Collaborative Teams from Mr Carlson TONG, Chairman of UGC (3rd right).

Ms Vicky Man, Senior Lecturer of the Language Centre of Hong Kong Baptist University, has received the 2022 UGC Teaching Award for Collaborative Teams as a member of the English Across the Curriculum (EAC) Team.

The leader of this inter-institutional team is The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Other members come from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and City University of Hong Kong.

Over a period of eight years, the Team has generated multiple innovative and effective strategies for developing students’ academic literacy, including the deployment of multi-modal English Across the Curriculum resources and the mobile app “Capstone Ninja”. Teachers of English and other disciplines, as well as their students from UGC-funded universities, have all benefitted as the Team has successfully built a culture conducive to student-centred and interdisciplinary collaboration.

This is the fourth year in a row that HKBU teachers have won a prestigious UGC Teaching Award, which is a distinct honour presented by the University Grants Committee. Ms Man’s achievement demonstrates how HKBU is committed to offering quality education to students.
